L'histoire commence en 1981 quand deux amis d'enfance qui grandirent ensemble dans la ville anglaise de Bath, Curt Smith et Roland Orzabal enregistrent un premier disque avec le groupe ska Graduate. Peu de temps après, ils fondent leur propre formation baptisée Tears for Fears dont le nom est issu des enseignements d'Arthur Janov (dont la théorie du cri primal influença grandement John Lennon).

En 1983, ils sortent un premier album, The Hurting, dont nombre de titres vinrent se classer dans le top 5 des charts britanniques, marquant le début de l'ère post-new wave. Suivra, en 1985, Songs From the Big Chair, qui ne passera pas moins de 83 semaines au hit-parade américain et sera certifié à cinq reprises disque de platine. Deux de ses singles Everybody Wants to Rule The World et Shout y occuperont même la première place des meilleures ventes.

Après avoir donné une tournée mondiale mobilisant les foules et des concerts caritatifs organisés pour lutter contre la faim en Afrique, Tears for Fears disparaît de la scène jusqu'en 1989. Puis ils font un retour en fanfare avec l'album Sowing The Seeds Of Love qui défraya à nouveau la chronique en se vendant à plus de 8 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde.

En 1990, le duo se sépare. Curt Smith s'oriente vers une carrière solo, alors que Roland continue avec le reste du groupe pour sortir, en 1993, Elemental et, en 1995, Raoul and the Kings of Spain, dernier album sorti sous le nom de Tears for Fears.

En avril 2005, pour le plus grand bonheur de leurs fans, le groupe culte sort un nouveau CD, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. Un album qui marque les retrouvailles de Curt et Roland, propulse l'héritage de Tears for Fears dans le XXIème siècle et prolonge l'une des collaborations des plus prodigues dans le domaine de la musique pop

The Main Stage Of Le Parc Des Princes In CD/DVD

The history began in 1981 when two childhood friends who grew up together in the English town of Bath, Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal recorded a first disc with the ska band the Graduates.

Shortly afterwards, they founded their own group named Tears For Fears, which name was taken from the teachings of Arthur Janov (whose primal scream theory greatly influenced John Lennon).

In 1983, they released a first album, The Hurting, of which a number of songs got to the top five of British Charts, signalling the start of the post new wave era. This was followed in 1985 by Songs From The Big Chair, which stayed 83 weeks in the American chart and was certified five time platinum disc, two of its singles, Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Shout, got to the number one of the best sales. After a world tour, attracting huge crowds and charitable concerts organised to fight hunger in Africa, then, they came back gloriously with Seeds Of Love records which has been widely talked about again with 8 millions copies sold over the world.

In 1990, the duet split. Curt Smith move towards a solo career as Roland Orzabal continue with the rest of the band, to release in 1993 Elemental and in 1995 Raoul and The Kings Of Spain, the last records released under the name of Tears For Fears.

In april 2005, to the great joy of fans, the cult band released a new cd, Everybody Loves A Happy Ending,. An album which marks the reunion of Curt and Roland, bringing into the 21st century the heritage of Tears For Fears and extending one of the most prodigious collaboration in pop music domain.

au printemps 2005, plus de 10 ans après leur séparation, Tears for Fears se reformait pour l'album Everybody loves a Happy Ending, et pour un concert exceptionnel à Paris organisé par la radio Europe 2. Comme le laissait présager le titre de ce nouvel album, ce come-back inattendu avait tout d'une "Happy End".

Les fans de Tears for Fears ne les ont pas oubliés et répondent présents : l'album se place à sa sortie à la 28e place du top albums (et approche désormais les 70 000 exemplaires vendus) et 35 000 personnes assistent le 18 juin dernier au concert du Parc des Princes.

Aujourd'hui sort Secret World, le CD/DVD de ce concert évènement en exclusivité pour la France. Cet album s?annonce comme un événement majeur de la scène pop rock tant par sa qualité que par son unicité, puisqu'il s'agit du premier CD live de Tears For Fears et de leur deuxième DVD !

In the spring of 2005, after more than ten years of separation, Tears For Fears got back together for an album -Everybody Loves A Happy Ending-, and for an amazing concert in Paris organised by Europe2 radio. Like the title of this brand new record indicated , this comeback bore the hallmarks of an happy ending.

Tears For Fears Fans did not forget them and turned up in crowds: the record got to number 28 of the album chart when it was released, nearly 70000 copies have been sold by now and 35000 people attended the parc des princes concert on 18 june 2005.

Today, Secret World is released, the cd/dvd of this main concert in exclusivity for France. The forthcoming release has been announced as a major event for the pop rock scene because of its quality , its uniqueness and because it is the first Live cd and the second DVD of the band!
